Exarcheia is a good place to trade a landmark-view table for a neighbourhood meal: bakeries, mezze, vegetarian food, coffee and casual bars are part of its appeal. The Black Salami keeps things simple and very good — quality ingredients, bold fillings, and a neighbourhood cult following. A daytime-only spot (mornings through early afternoon) that rewards an early visit.
Greece's main archaeological museum, covering prehistoric to Roman and Egyptian collections — including the Antikythera finds and Mycenaean gold (the 'Mask of Agamemnon') — in Exarcheia. Allow two to three hours for a first visit.
